How to Fix Sling App Not Working

How to Fix Sling App Not Working

People buy services like Sling to relax and watch their favorite stuff from the device of their choice and anytime they want to. But since the last many weeks it’s been a topic of worry for those who are having a hard time using their Sling App. Users throughout the nation have reported various issues not allowing them to use the Sling app. Many have even given up to this after suffering extensively and are now switching to other options.

Sling is known for the wide variety of content it offers, which caters to almost every user needs. The price point is obviously on the higher side but again the stuff and the variety always sets it apart. However some sudden instances can definitely question its working and functionality when it’s been weeks that users have been suffering after paying a high cost. There are even talks over the social platforms that if Sling is aware of all these outages and if yes, then what they are up to.

I formed this guide after interacting with hundreds of Sling users on different social platforms and understood their issues and what measures and fixes they usually undertake and which one works mostly. The whole assessment I have included in this post for you to know so that you can apply the extensive measures and try beating the trouble.

Common Issues Reported For Sling App Not Working

Below are some top most reported issues faced by different users at the same time. This will just provide you with an idea if your issue is one of its type or more common and known, check if you find any similarity.

1. Sling TV Buffering On Roku Devices

This is the most top most reported in the user issue list. Users have complained that it’s not only one, they have many Rokus and they all have the same problem. Which simply implies that there might be something wrong with the application itself or there are some serious compatibility concerns with the Sling application when installed on Roku devices. This is being confirmed when at the same time users are being able to access all the other apps on Roku smoothly.

2. Logged Out Due To Attempted Access Outside Of The Country

The second one in the list is the message “Logged Out Due To Attempted Access Outside Of The Country”, which many users are reporting about. While I was researching Sling, I found that many users have been trying to access Sling from the locations outside the U.S. I believe you all know that Sling is currently limited for its operations in the U.S only and will deny any features and will have location restrictions outside the U.S. People while traveling to other regions than the U.S have problems watching content. Even using the VPN services will not help and users outside the country will be logged out.

3. Sling App Freezing On Apple TV

This is the most interesting one as I enjoyed cracking this one. When users have been complaining about the Sling app freezing on their Apple TV, I just tried the same connection at my home. Now understand when the AppleTVs will be connected to two different WAPs and  when they’re on separate networks, the AppleTVs can’t see each other on the local network. This implies that features like AirPlay through which you stream content from one Apple device to another, wouldn’t work between the two AppleTVs. This is the one and the primary reason for many Sling app and Apple TV issues.

Fix:

  • If the AppleTV is connected to the internet through its respective WAP then they can function independently.
  • Try to access streaming services through the web and other functionalities on each AppleTV as usual and make sure that your AppleTV model supports.

Another Fix, if the above scenario is justified is to Factory reset your Apple TV, understand the process below;

For Recent Apple TV (4K or HD):

  1. Turn on your Apple TV and navigate to Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Choose Reset.
  4. You’ll see two options:
    • Reset: This is the faster option which will reset your AppleTV to factory settings but doesn’t install software updates and it doesn’t require an internet connection.
    • Reset and Update: This option resets the AppleTV to factory settings and also installs the latest software update and requires an internet connection.
  5. Choose the desired reset option and confirm your selection.

Older Apple TV (3rd generation or earlier):

  1. Turn on your Apple TV and navigate to Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose Reset.
  4. You’ll see two options similar to the newer models:
    • Reset All Settings: This resets your settings to factory defaults but doesn’t erase data or update software.
    • Restore: This option completely wipes your AppleTV and installs the latest software update. It requires an internet connection.
  5. Choose the desired reset option and confirm your selection.

Note: Remember that whichever method you choose, make sure you keep your AppleTV plugged into power throughout the reset process. After the reset is complete, you’ll have to go through the initial setup process again for your AppleTV.

4. Sling TV App Not Open On My Fire TV Stick.

Many other users are having issues using the Sling app on their Fire TV stick and they are  receiving the error message that says “video not available or There’s a problem loading this video or If this continues, check your internet connection.” When users are selecting the app it says Sling loading for a couple of seconds and then the screen goes black remains like that forever.

Fix:

Update the software on your Fire TV Stick.

  1. From the Fire TV Stick menu, select “Settings”.
  2. Select “My Fire TV”.
  3. Select “About”.
  4. Select “Check for system update”.
  • Clear Sling TV app data and cache on Fire TV Stick.
  1. From the Fire TV Stick menu, select “Settings”.
  2. Go to “Applications”.
  3. In Manage Installed Applications, select the app you are having trouble with.
  4. Select “Clear cache” and then “Clear data”.
