1. Sling TV Buffering On Roku Devices

This is the most interesting one as I enjoyed cracking this one. When users have been complaining about the Sling app freezing on their Apple TV, I just tried the same connection at my home. Now understand when the AppleTVs will be connected to two different WAPs and  when they’re on separate networks, the AppleTVs can’t see each other on the local network. This implies that features like AirPlay through which you stream content from one Apple device to another, wouldn’t work between the two AppleTVs. This is the one and the primary reason for many Sling app and Apple TV issues.

Fix:

• If the AppleTV is connected to the internet through its respective WAP then they can function independently. 
• Try to access streaming services through the web and other functionalities on each AppleTV as usual and make sure that your AppleTV model supports.

Another Fix, if the above scenario is justified is to Factory reset your Apple TV, understand the process below;

For Recent Apple TV (4K or HD):

1. Turn on your Apple TV and navigate to Settings.
2. Select System.
3. Choose Reset.
4. You’ll see two options:
   • Reset: This is the faster option which will reset your AppleTV to factory settings but doesn’t install software updates and it doesn’t require an internet connection.
   • Reset and Update: This option resets the AppleTV to factory settings and also installs the latest software update and requires an internet connection.
5. Choose the desired reset option and confirm your selection.

Older Apple TV (3rd generation or earlier):

1. Turn on your Apple TV and navigate to Settings.
2. Select General.
3. Choose Reset.
4. You’ll see two options similar to the newer models:
   • Reset All Settings: This resets your settings to factory defaults but doesn’t erase data or update software.
   • Restore: This option completely wipes your AppleTV and installs the latest software update. It requires an internet connection.
5. Choose the desired reset option and confirm your selection.

Note: Remember that whichever method you choose, make sure you keep your AppleTV plugged into power throughout the reset process. After the reset is complete, you’ll have to go through the initial setup process again for your AppleTV.

4. Sling TV App Not Open On My Fire TV Stick.

Many other users are having issues using the Sling app on their Fire TV stick and they are  receiving the error message that says “video not available or There’s a problem loading this video or If this continues, check your internet connection.” When users are selecting the app it says Sling loading for a couple of seconds and then the screen goes black remains like that forever. 

Fix:

Update the software on your Fire TV Stick.

1. From the Fire TV Stick menu, select “Settings”.
2. Select “My Fire TV”.
3. Select “About”.
4. Select “Check for system update”.

• Clear Sling TV app data and cache on Fire TV Stick.

1. From the Fire TV Stick menu, select “Settings”.
2. Go to “Applications”.
3. In Manage Installed Applications, select the app you are having trouble with.

We have been using smartphones and apps for many different services for  a long time now and it’s quite a habit to face such issues once in a while but the recurring ones create problems and need some extra care.  Different issues like app crashing, systems not detected, app loading for a long time, app not connecting and many stop us from accessing apps smoothly. 1. Open Settings and tap Privacy Settings.
2. Scroll down and tap Privacy.
3. Tap on Location Services on the page opened.
4. A list of apps with location access will appear.
5. Check if the Sling App can access your location even when it’s not in use.

3. Restarting Your Phone

A quick restart always works, matter not what the device is. Restart your device and then check; 

For iPhone

1. Press and then quickly release the Volume Up button, then repeat this with the Volume Down button.
2. Press and hold the power button and don’t release and wait for your device to restart.

For Android

1. Press and hold the power button on your Android device.
2. Select the restart from the menu which appears on the screen.
3. Confirm the restart if prompted.

4. Updating The OS 

Keeping your device’s operating system updated is important for the overall smooth functioning of the device. There would otherwise be malfunctioning of apps and compatibility issues also. Check for any updates due in the settings and ensure you’re using the latest OS to avoid any software glitches. 

For iPhone

1. Open Settings and tap General. 
2. Tap Software Update. 
3. In case an update is available, tap download and Install. 

For Android

1. Go to the Settings app on your Android device.
2. Scroll down and tap System or System & Updates. 
3. Tap on Advanced or System Updates.
4. Tap check for update.
5. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install.

5. Force Closing The Sling App

Extensive usage sometimes tires the apps and devices, force close the app and then check;

1. On your Home screen, swipe up from the bottom and stop in the middle of the screen. 
2. Swipe left or right to see the Sling App. 
3. Swipe up on the app’s preview for closing the app. 
4. Reopen the app after a minute or two and check if it’s working normally.

6. Updating The Sling App

1. Go to the App Store and then tap on your profile icon. 
2. Scroll down and find the Sling app from the list.

7. Disable the Power Saving Mode 

Sling will not operate ideally if you have enabled power-saving mode on your phone. The power-saving mode limits the functionality of some certain system components. Turn off the power-saving mode on your device and check’

3. Low Power Mode and disable it. 

Android device

1. Navigate to Settings

8. VPN Disable

Users install VPN on their phones to bypass the restrictions imposed from their internet service provider but this could cause hindrances too. If you have any VPN enabled, remove it and check if Sling App is working fine. 

9. Clear Apps Cache

Cache are small memory packets that the app downloads on your device while functioning. If you don’t clear the old ones, they could create problems;

10. Contact Sling Customer Support

The last option after you have tried many of the troubleshooting problems is to reach out to Sling customer support and let them know.
